Case Study Type - Road Traffic Accident
Solicitor involved - Rachel K. Hunter LLB.
Location - Belfast
Sarah was involved in a road traffic accident with a large lorry at a congested roundabout. Initially, the third party denied liability for the incident. Sarah sustained muscular injuries to her neck, shoulder, and upper back, with a prognosis of 12 to 18 months for recovery. The primary concern, however, was her psychological trauma.
We obtained a detailed report from a Consultant Psychiatrist, who diagnosed Sarah with an adjustment disorder and travel anxiety as a result of the accident. Due to the ongoing dispute over liability, we proceeded with issuing Court proceedings. As the hearing date approached, the third party admitted liability.
The initial settlement offer was £12,500. Following further negotiations, the case was ultimately settled for £22,500. Sarah was pleased with the outcome, which provided her with fair compensation for both her physical and psychological injuries.
